ABIEBR :: Modules

Modules

The ABIEBR is the result of an enormous amount of work and dedication. In total over the course of the last 7 years we have reviewed over 25,000 titles with 5,000 abstracts undergoing a more careful assessment. 304 articles were carefully analyzed and summarized for the first edition of the ERABI. For this edition we added 2 new modules. Module 18 - Traumatic Brain Injury and Older Age discusses the issue of TBIs sustained in older years (>/=60 years) and the overall outcome for these individuals.  Module 19 -Traumatic Brain Injury and Animal Research looks at the animal literature and discusses what is being investigated and how this might impact new treatments and interventions.

For the seventh edition of ERABI we reviewed and have included a total of 695 articles. Of the 651 articles, 95 were Level 1 RCTs, 95 were Level 2 RCTs, 405 studies were non-RCTs. Although 28.6% of the articles chosen for this review were RCTs, due to this limited number, levels of evidence were generally lacking. However, it is a start, and points to the fact that much more research need to be done.

This project was a true joint effort and many individuals participated and are acknowledged in the following pages. Please feel free to browse and use these modules, as seen fit, without alteration.

The Modules are current and up to date as of October 2011
